Wendy Weeks enjoyed her years working as a Registered Social Worker in Victoria, BC. She worked as a Family Development Counsellor and as a Mental Health Outreach Counsellor at Phoenix Human Services Association (The Thrive Society). Wendy’s employment experience also included working as a Family Support Coordinator for families who have a child with a disability and managed a tenant support program. She is one of the founding parents of Community Options for Children and Families; a society that provides respite and family support to families who have a child with a disability.
Wendy has two daughters, one son, and five grandchildren. Her son, Emmett, lives a life as a person with multiple challenges, such as: cortical vision impairment, seizure disorder, spastic quadriplegia, and a swallowing disorder. He loves seeing his nieces and nephews, being outdoors, watching documentaries on animals and his music Zoom class. It is important to Wendy and her family that everyone stays connected.
Wendy, now retired, continues to support organizations where she can through volunteering and is looking forward to supporting Vela Canada.
Vela is the latin word for moving forward.
