Webinar Series: Intro to Microboards for Siblings

Intro to Microboards Siblings small
As parents get older, many siblings find that they must prepare or step in to take on new roles and responsibilities supporting their brother or sister with a disability. To help prepare siblings, Vela Canada is offering an Intro to Microboards webinar.
This webinar will outline what a Microboard is and the steps to creating one. Microboards are small non-profit societies created by family and friends to provide personalized support for a person with a disability. A Microboard may go on to contract for government funds to provide services. The focus of the Microboard is supporting the person with a disability to have an inclusive life in their community as they identify this themselves. This includes all aspects of a full life and often includes receipt of funding for paid supports.
A Microboard is a great system of support for an individual with a disability, but also for the siblings that support them.
The webinar will focus on the sibling relationship, however, anyone that is interested in learning about Microboards may attend.
