Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and WorkSafeBC Rates 2024
Updated Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and WorkSafeBC
Every year the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) and WorkSafeBC update the rates employers need to know for payroll and paying premiums.
The 2024 rates that employers need to be aware of are:
The new rate for mileage is .70c/km for the first 5000km driven per year. Visit the CRA website to learn more about mileage.
Providing an employee allowance based on a per-kilometer rate is considered reasonable by the CRA. You do not need to deduct CPP contributions, EI premiums, or income tax. Learn more on the CRA website.
Canada Pension Plan (CPP):
The rate for CPP remains at 5.95%. Visit the CRA website to learn more about CPP.
Employment Insurance (EI):
The new rate for EI is 2.32%. Employers pay 1.4x the employee rate when calculating remittances. Visit the CRA website to learn more about EI.
Microboards and Individualized Funding recipients commonly fall under WorkSafeBC’s Hiring or Providing Companion Services or Domestic Childcare classification unit.
The base rate remains at 1.46%.
Please note: Each employer will need to verify their premium rate with WorkSafeBC. Employer rates are dependent on each employer’s claim history, etc.
