Caitlin Goodsell

Co-Executive Director

Caitlin was born and raised in the Kootenays where she grew up with several foster siblings who have diverse and complex needs. Naturally falling into the role of a support worker, she also spent many years working with young children on the autism spectrum, as well as doing direct supports for three wonderful individuals with complex disability related needs. Two of these individuals had their own Microboards, and the other was using Individualized Funding, which gave Caitlin a deep appreciation of the difference that self-directed models can make for someone with a disability.

In 2008, when the opportunity to join Vela’s team presented itself, Caitlin jumped at the chance to dive into a different side of Microboards and Individualized Funding. She became a Vela facilitator in the Lower Mainland, supporting people with disabilities and their loved ones to create their own self-directed supports.

In 2021, Caitlin was promoted to Co-Executive Director of Vela Canada. As Co-Executive Director, Caitlin continues to look forward to supporting people with disabilities and their networks towards creating inclusive and self-determined communities around the province.
