Terry Robertson

Mentor, Northern BC

Terry joined Vela Canada’s team in 2008 and works with families in Northern BC. Terry has two adult children; her son, Drew, is married and lives in Edmonton, and her daughter, Bree-Anna, lives at home with her parents. Bree-Anna created a Microboard in 2004.

Bree-Anna lives with multiple disabilities and requires full support. To meet the continuous challenges Bree-Anna faces, Terry learned the many systems families must understand to negotiate and access services for their sons and daughters.

Terry has developed several programs in her community and region for families through the Ministry of Children and Family Development, School District #57, and Community Living BC’s (CLBC) northern council. She been a member of the Family Support Institute for over 25 years, was a parent who helped create CLBC, and sat on the CLBC advisory board. In 2012, Terry received the Outstanding Volunteer Award of Merit in Prince George for her outstanding and far-reaching volunteer efforts.
