Employment Standards Information

The law in B.C. sets standards for payment, compensation and working conditions in
most workplaces. The standards promote open communication, fair treatment and work-life balance for employees. It is important that you familiarize yourself with these standards and follow them when you are hiring and employing your staff.

Relevant Categories

The categories that will be relevant to most Microboards, PCS, and IF Agents that are hiring employees within our sector are:

  • Taking time off
  • Quit, fired, or laid off
  • Getting paid for work
  • Hiring employees
  • Hours of work and overtime
  • Statutory holidays

 

Note: These standards do not apply if you are hiring contractors to provide care.
